TAITŌ

+kouple embraces a new character with the Taitō Pouf launch.

One of our key principles is a non-standard approach to form, combining simplicity with distinct individuality.

Taitō (対等) comes from Japanese, meaning “equivalent”, a word that captures the shape of balancing volumes. That is precisely the visual concept Dan Vakhrameyev had in mind while developing this product.

Presented as a part of the Design Nation Berlin exhibition in October 2025

The aim was to create a solid, reliable structure with a comprehensible design, such as a square-cylinder merge. The initial design of Taitō Poufs was planned in two sizes. One supports the other in composition, each equally contributing to the surrounding space.

During many interviews, our founder and creative director, Dan Vakhrameyev, has been asked one question countless times: “Why lighting fixtures?”

Visual concepts kept coming to him naturally and persistently, as simply as that. Many furniture ideas have also emerged since establishing brand +kouple in 2014.

Hence, inevitably, we developed the very first furniture release - Taitō Poufs.
